【Dense Wire Lid & Handle】 - More dense wire top, suitable for small animals, such as tortoise, lizards, geckos, and snakes. Also, the top doors latch as well making sure your buddy stays safe! On the side of the ‘viewing’ part, a shelf for hanging heat lamp is fixed as well.
【Enough Space & Easy to Clean】 - You can remove the partition panel to have the 2 rooms together for more space. Moreover, the side panel and the bottom panel of this habitat can also be pulled out for easy cleaning. If you had an adult Hermann's tortoise, you can order 2 of these habitats and attach them together to give him enough room to roam.
【Indoor & Outdoor Use】- Use indoors to keep your tortoise safe during cold winter days and use outdoors to provide natural sunlight in warm days. Suitable for small animals, such as tortoise, lizards, geckos, and snakes. A great habitat for your pets to roam, play, relax, and sleep.
This thing is bigger than I expected!! It is solid and sturdy! Has extra screws, and it comes with a couple of NICE plastic mats that cover the whole bottom of the box. This is a perfect brood box for a great price for the quality!!!! It easily fits 15 one to two-week-old chicks with a quart Mason jar water-er and a feed tray... There is plenty of room for them to be in the heat or to be in the side box away from the heat... They are NOT crammed together. I would NOT add more than 15 chicks in at a time due to overcrowding. The chicks need space and you would need bedding changes frequently...With 15+ the bedding changes would absolutely need to be done once or twice a week depending on how messy everything gets not a good idea and chicks would be without adequate space...* I would say 5-15chicks would be perfect.. that amount would be very happy in this box with needs met and they are safe from predsPredators like snakes or rats, and warm from a heat lamp.. ?Okay I want to be as honest as I can be so here is the negatives..1.) You will have to place this box on a table as it doesn't have legs. Nothing to do with the box itself however it is something you will have to deal with unless you are okay with it on the ground. (It's pretty so I am not.)2.) You will need to pre-drill holes yourself so the wood does not split as you are putting it together3.) You have to purchase or hatch your own chicks to put in this box..? ? That is a downside.. No surprise healthy happy chicks as a bonus.. lolI do not see anything wrong with this box as of now... It is perfect for what I wanted it for!! And it's cute.I have not even removed the film yet over the glass yet because I like the misted window effect haha...Works for my two month old tortoise perfectlyIt was easy to assemble. Seems sturdy. I just wish it was where he could see out in the front but otherwise great productI am pleased with this purchase for$85. However, there are a couple of flaws that I already have supplies for, but it would cost probably another$10-15 to correct.Because it's not exactly expensive--think Ikea quality, getting the walls to come together was a bit of a challenge until I realized part of the problem was that the based "tray" is really the entire bottom. I done want a removable base so I nailed the base to the walls. There is a slight hole in one of the corners which I can easily fix with some caulk and I'm going to go ahead and polycrylic the whole thing for waterproofing and vinyl flooring. The big lid is slightly warped, still thinking about it, it's not a lot but it's enough and I'm a perfectionist so it bothers me. There is glue on the seams of the lid corners. I bought this guy for partially for the simple grey aesthetics. There are these big holes in the frame of the lid with screws for the corner joints and 1. This is ugly 2. Not listed in the pictures. I used some wood filler too fill that in. Because the lid had irregularities, I'm going to paint it. Wood is going to be easy to paint with a primer and top coat, so painting it will be a breeze.Hinges and clasp are pretty cheap. I will probably upgrade them.Lastly, I did not put the handles on because 1. I'm not going to be carrying it. 2. The one side slides out for connecting to a second one, which means a handle is a huge design flare, you wouldn't be able to use it anyway.3. Lastly, I am putting small wheels in it that I already had but did cost me about $12 for the set.Overall yes, I would recommend this purchase but be ready to make a few modifications. I've made like 5 turtle boxes over the years and this was by far the easiest one I've done.I got this for my 2 (ninja)Turtles, it’s a great cage and I love that it has 2 sides for them. Its great that it can be used indoors & outdoors too, my turtles can get fresh air & sun & be protected during the spring/summer months. My only issue is that the bottom is made like the rest of it and has the spaces between the boards. My turtles knocked over their water dish & it leaked through on to my rug ? The bottom should be just 1 flat piece or come with a liner, in my opinion. But I put in my own plastic liner inside & one underneath the cage just to be safe & all is well! Overall it’s a great cage!Pieces don't fit together perfectly on various parts of the enclosure. Two specific and important areas are the lids with the rest of the box (pictured). I lined up the back of each lid with the back of the box when I screwed the hinges on thinking the pieces were cut to fit right over. Nope. With the back perfectly aligned the front overshot the box, making it impossible to attach the latches. This would be bad if you wanted to latch and lock the lids to prevent escape. One star taken for that consequence. Besides that, the pieces that don't fit right made it really hard to assemble. It also looks kinda lopsided at some angles. Another star taken for those issues. The "easy cleaning" bottom is a pain in the ass if you use any substrate besides reptile mats. I use wood shavings and hay at least 3-4 inches deep. This much loose substrate makes a mess when you slide out the bottom. You better have a tarp laid out right under you to catch everything. Tortoises need digging material to be happy and healthy. This forces owners to not give that in order to be cleaner, which sucks. Another star taken for that.If I had the chance to go back, I'd cough up the extra money for the $99 ZooMed brand tortoise enclosure that looks just like this. They're a reputable company and I've seen how well put together their boxes can be. All pieces are cut to fit perfectly and you get a safe and nice looking enclosure that can handle loose substrate without making cleaning a hassle.I'll update after some time with info on if it holds up well as time passes.
